This week, Cinderella Spinderella, the illustrated ebook by Mark Binder and Steve Mardo has won two awards and been nominated as a finalist for a third!

(It’s also won a Moonbeam Children’s ebook Award)

The ebook, a modern “spin” on the classic tale, which allows readers to pick, what Cinderella and the Prince look like, was awarded a Digital Book World QED Award for Quality Excellence and Design. It was also awarded a Mom’s Choice Silver Award for Children’s Picture ebook. AND it is one of two finalists in the prestigious Digital Book Award for flowable children’s ebook.

“We’re thrilled that th is ebook is getting the kind of recognition it deserves,” said Stephen Brendan, co-publisher at Light Publications. “We worked hard on this project to create a book that works beautifully on every single ebook reader available.”

Cinderella Spinderella is a unique experience, giving readers the choice of picking between five Cinderellas and five Princes. You can choose whether they’re Black, Asian, White, Hispanic or from the Indian Subcontinent.

“While Cinderella and the Prince changes, allowing you and your children to identify with the heroes,” Stephen Brendan explained, “the story remains constant. Our goal was to recreate in digital form, the kind of multicultural experience that Mark Binder creates when he performs the story live.”

In a recent interview, Binder explained, “When I write and perform stories, I’m trying to connect readers and listeners. Cinderella Spinderella is about a young woman owning the power of her own identity. As the fairy godmother says, ‘It doesn’t matter what you look like. What matters is who you are.'”
